Lucca can easily be seen on a day trip from other destinations in Tuscany or as a base to explore other parts of this region. Pisa is easily accessed from this city.Among Lucca’s highlights are the Clock and Guinigi towers and the Piazza Dell’ Anfiteatro, which stands upon traces of an old Roman amphitheater. Giacomo Puccini, the famous opera composer was born in Lucca, and there is a festival each year to celebrate his life and famous operas.
